Product Notes:
Try powerful Saffron 2020 from Persavita and give your eyes the nourishment and care they need.
Combining the recently discovered effects of saffron with antioxidants for the improvement of eye-health (such as lutein, zeaxanthin, zinc, and vitamins A, B2, C, and E).
Saffron has long been associated with good health. First referenced in literature in the 7th century B.C., saffron has traditionally been used for treatment of melancholy, improvement of sexual function, and other therapeutic purposes; the illustrious litany of proponents of the health benefits of saffron include Alexander the Great and Queen Cleopatra.
Indeed, some studies are beginning to affirm that there may in fact be some evidence for these traditional uses - of interest to researchers recently have been saffron's potential antidepressant properties, as well as its potential for treating sexual dysfunction. Indeed, it may be particularly beneficial for the treatment of sexual dysfunction as a side effect of some SSRI antidepressants, given its preliminary appearance of compatibility with these drugs.
However, while such studies are in preliminary stages, what are more demonstrably certain are the effects of supplemental saffron on ocular health. According to a research team conducting a double-blind, randomly controlled study at the University of Sydney, "all patients experienced improvements in their vision while taking the Saffron pill," with some even gaining the ability to read two more lines of text on an eye chart than they were able to do before.
Saffron has also been linked to aiding in weight loss, appetite suppression, and curbing snack cravings. Studies suggest that saffron may help increase brains levels of serotonin (otherwise known as the "happy neurotransmitter") which may aid to prevent emotional eating and unwanted weight gain.
Differences Between Original and XP Formulae
Saffron 2020 is now produced in two types, which provide identical amounts of saffron per daily dose, but vary in whether you only take one (in the original) or two capsules per day (in this version) and several other respects:
- the Original Saffron 2020 formulation has relatively moderate levels of vitamin C, vitamin E, and zinc, and has a fair amount of resveratrol (which has very good synergistic effects with the saffron to protect the retina);
- the follow-up Saffron 2020 XP formulation provides a higher amount of zinc and lutein and the maximum daily dose of vitamin C and vitamin E, to match the levels of those antioxidants which were used in certain eye vitamin supplements in the second Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) conducted by the NIH National Eye Institute, which found they reduced the risk of disease progression by about 25% for those with the intermediate stage of AMD. This type should not be taken in conjunction with other eye supplements (such as AREDS 2 formula) that contain vitamin E, however, because it can be harmful to take too much vitamin E.
