Product Notes:
Although it may be better known as "Bearberry" (which came by its Latin name honestly: bears literally like to eat its red grapes or berries) the Uva Ursi plant is a low-growing shrub in the heather family, which grows in many parts of North America and certain northern regions.
It is now understood that Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs, which may entail symptoms such as frequent urination and/or a burning sensation during urination) are likely caused by bacterial infections (often E. coli), so Uva Ursi is a natural choice to combat them, since it has antibacterial properties.
In fact, the active ingredient in Uva Ursi, arbutin, not only serves as an antiseptic to combat bacteria and prevent them from adhering to the walls of the bladder, urethra, and kidneys, but also promotes urine flow, which can help flush them from the urinary tract. Some also recommend it for Candida.

Certified Organic Uva Ursi (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, leaf)
