Never one to rest on their laurels, Vitamix has continued to redesign and refine its blenders over the years not only in response to technological developments but also consumer preferences and demographics. So naturally, their latest consumer line, the X series, incorporates the advanced features of the original Ascents, but introduces (or, in some cases, re-introduces) refinements.
Product Notes:
S&H included in Canada. Like its counterpart the Ascent A2500 (which is being discontinued in the USA and is no longer being imported to Canada as of this writing in July 2025, due to counter-tariffs):
- has a low-profile such that it can be stored on the counter and fit under most kitchen cabinets even with the container on;
- is compatible with a whole range of container sizes and types (including their food processor attachment) whose characteristics the base "self-detects" to indicate whether it's been mounted properly and to inform its programming options;
- has a digital timer on its main display and control panel, along with a Pulse control switch, a Speed Control dial with ten settings, and three pre-programmed settings;
- has a two-part lid with a see-through centre piece which can be removed for the tamper;
- includes an On/Off switch recessed on the side of the base to prevent unwanted activation by young children or pets; has overheating protection (automatic shut-off accompanied by three dashes on the display);

Some of the main areas where the new X2 model differs from its intermediate A2500 predecessor are in: looks (with different 'lines' on the motor base, and slightly different knobs and badging on the face plate); additions (including a tamper holder, which can be mounted on either side, bringing back a black rubberized grip on the container handle for a more comfortable grip, and adding a cleaning cycle program); and substitutions (shipping with the 48-ounce rather than the 64-ounce container, because it's better with small batches).
Ascent X2 Features
* Includes: Motor Base, Low-Profile 1.4L/48 oz Tritan Container with soft-grip handle; Low-Profile Tamper / pushing rod; and a removable Tamper Holder. There will also be a link for a Digital Recipe Book, with over 30 recipes developed by their in-house culinary team specifically for the Ascent X Series.
* Variable Speed Control: enables you to fine-tune the texture you want, for everything from smooth purées to chunky salsas.
* Pulse feature: for heartier recipes, this enables you to layer a coarser chop into an existing smooth purée, such as for a thick vegetable soup or a chunky pasta sauce.
* Built-in digital timer: lets you know how long you've been blending something, to help you achieve the perfect texture and replicate your preferred results from the past, exactly.
* 3 Food Programs: with the right combinations of changing speeds and times for: Smoothies; Frozen Desserts; and Hot Soups.
* Self-cleaning program for the blender container: just fill the container half full with warm water, and two drops of dish soap, put on the lids, and run the program. The display will tell you how long it takes (it depends on the container). The container, lid, blade base, and seal are also all dishwasher safe or can be hand-washed and sanitized, if desired.
