New! AOR is the first Canadian supplement company to offer Mesoporosil®: a patented solid (but still highly soluble) form of silica that's far more absorbable and 40 times more bioavailable than from rice or bamboo sources. It's been shown to be both safe and effective in improving the firmness, hydration, radiance, and elasticity of dry skin, with no side effects, and may also help improve mobility, flexibility, and bone remineralization.

The element Silicon (Si, on the periodic table, aka Silicium, in Europe) and its more prevalent form Silica (when bonded with oxygen to form SiO₂) are essential to building and maintaining the basic structure of our connective tissue (skin, muscles, tendons, cartilage and bones) and strengthening collagen fibres.
Although often recommended as supplements to benefit prematurely aging skin, dry, brittle nails, and thin hair, they usually come as liquids (which can be more difficult to administer the precise dose and may have a more unpalatable taste or odour than capsules), and are difficult to fully absorb even then. In contrast, this is a special patented solid form that is far more bioavailable, and has no taste or odour (or aftertaste), and has been shown to be both safe and effective.
"Mesoporosil" is an abbreviation of its actual constituents: Mesoporous Silica Particles (or MSPs, which are also called MSNs, for Nanoparticles), which are miniscule structures of silicon dioxide that have been created in a patented manufacturing process to have a series of pores between 2 and 50 nanometres in diameter which increase the internal surface of each particle, which enable them to encapsulate bioactive molecules and then release them gradually - whether that's the silicon itself, in this case, or other types of medications. (As the final video and the first scientific reference explain, MSNs are increasingly being explored as delivery systems for other therapeutic agents, as well, similar to Liposomal forms of vitamins or other supplements.)
After ingesting it, our digestive system quickly transforms the mesoporous silica into the form our bodies use, OSA (Ortho Silicic Acid, or H4SiO4), which gets absorbed in our small intestine and enters our bloodstream, to make its way to the rest of the body. Unlike standard forms of OSA, this form is highly stable (it remains in monomeric form and does not polymerize, at any concentration) and is effective across pH levels. And, unlike crystalline forms of silica (which can be found in quartz or sand) which can be harmful to the lungs if inhaled as dust, it is completely safe to ingest a mere 50 milligrams of mesoporous silica a day.*

* (It would only be harmful at over a thousand times that dose. The World Health Organization determined in 1974 that the probable lethal dose of oral silica for people would be over 15 grams per kg of bodyweight, so they put no limits on the acceptable daily intake for people. (Source: WHO FOOD ADDITIVES SERIES NO. 5). For someone weighing about 75 kg / 165 lbs, that would be 1,125 grams: 22,500 times over the daily 0.05 mg dose!)
