Improve posture, reduce fatigue, and incorporate more activity into your everyday routine with the unique floating feeling of a kybun mat. Shipping included to most locations in Canada.
Many of us stand for hours on end on hard surfaces without really shifting our feet or weight that much, which is hard on the joints and leads to fatigue. Others just sit nearly all day, which can be even worse. The kybun mat (also called the kyBounder) can be of tremendous help for both groups -- providing a cushioning surface which encourages motion. This dynamic standing helps develop muscles, improve balance, coordination, and joint and posture problems among those who already need to stand at work or use a standing desk. For those who don't, the range of fitness benefits are a great reason to switch from sitting to standing throughout much of the day.
This soft, springy mat doesn't only cushion the feet, it encourages you to move about more, both for fun (it's sort of a mini-trampoline) and for exercise. Whenever you notice your body is becoming tired, just bounce, walk or jog in place for 20–30 seconds. It also leads you to automatically make minute movements to continue to maintain your balance on what is essentially a porous surface like a foam pillow, which you sink into while stepping on it. Unlike other types of mats, the "crumple zone" on the porous kybun mat is quite reactive: when you shift position, the area you were on quickly springs back. That "rebound effect" causes your muscles to alternate between tensing and relaxing as you exercise the muscles in your feet, legs and trunk, which can improve your balance, coordination, and all-round fitness without taking up any extra time at all.
Reduce Muscle Strain and Fatigue
The kybun mat thus enables you to improve your fitness during each working hour. The constant motion on the soft, springy surface trains your deep inner muscles and relieves stress, and has also helped many people eliminate back pain. And standing on it rather than just sitting also ensures you feel less tired and sluggish after eating lunch, and may even make you less prone to catching a cold.
Standing dynamically on the kybun mat offers countless benefits and makes you feel like you are on a trampoline, which is simply great fun. And in the workplace, while employees can benefit from these advantages themselves, employers can also benefit from significant increases in productivity and retention.

Available in a Choice of Thicknesses; Which is Right for You?
These kybun mats are all made of the same soft, springy material, but in three different depths. The basic principle, of course, is the thicker the mat, the more intense its effect will be.
* The thickest version is 6 cm (2-3/8") deep. It's suitable for general daily use, whether at home, or for athletic training, or at the office, especially if you have no major health, balance, or musculature issues to begin with.
You can get this 6cm depth in a mat with a removable washable fabric cover (in either Bordeaux [red)] or Anthracite [grey]) in a choice of lengths: nearly a meter (a little over a yardstick) long, which is suitable for moving about at most standing desks or workstations, and big enough to do some other types of exercises on; or nearly two meters long (about 6 foot 4), which is suitable for working at longer counters, or for practicing walking.
Or if you're using it where it's apt to get wet or dirty, you can also get the 3 foot long mat with the silver-coloured kybounder Plus cover cover which is resistant to both water and dirt. But please note, kybun advises that you shouldn't wear shoes when using any of these 6cm versions.
* The intermediate version is 4 cm (about 1-1/2") thick. This mat is recommended for those who may find the thicker version more challenging, whether that's senior citizens, children, or individuals with injuries, or with equilibrium, balance, or dizziness problems. It, too, comes in a choice of covers for the 96 cm long size (including the silver-coloured Plus type with the water and dirt-resistant surface), or in either of the two fabric colours for the 196 cm length. Again, you should only use your bare feet or wear socks when using kybun mats of this depth, which can provide a gentle, mid-level workout.
* Finally, the 2 cm (about 3/4") thick water-resistant kyBounder Plus model (which only comes in silver, and should only be used when wearing footwear) is ideal if you spend long periods at work or home standing on a hard surface such as a concrete or tile floor, and you're not allowed to or shouldn't remove your shoes. Potentially suitable settings might include a workshop or factory that requires steel-toed safety shoes at a workbench or assembly line; or behind the counter in a restaurant or bar, or in a more formal bank, office, or sales setting that requires long periods of standing.
Even with just a 2 cm thickness, the soft, springy kyBounder Plus can relieve the strain on your whole body, protect your joints, and prevent leg fatigue, especially when you do a few basic exercises throughout the course of the day. Its special coating makes it water resistant and easy to clean. However, it should not be exposed to permanently wet conditions, and it's not be impervious to (hot) swarf (such as metal shavings in a machine shop).
Please note, kybun also produces two fabric versions in this thickness which are available upon request, but they are not particular suited for use at standing workstations -- they're best for those recovering from an injury, surgery, or illness (such as a stroke), who need therapy and rehabilitation but are not ready for too much of a springy, rebound effect. The kyBounder Plus Mat can be used for that as well, but again, the manufacturer advises it should be used while wearing shoes (the 2 cm thick fabric covered versions should not be used with shoes, however).
Like their air-cushioned kybun shoes, kybun mats are made in Switzerland. Shipping is included to most locations in Canada, but delivery of some models may take up to a few weeks, as not all available product combinations are in stock at all times.

The kybun mat is not only an ideal complement to a standing desk in an office environment, or for working behind counters or workbenches in other work situations, but it can also be used various ways around the home. The kybun mat is great for multi-tasking while standing doing things like ironing, cooking, chatting on the phone, watching TV, playing video games, and of course you can also sit or kneel on it to do yoga or other stretching exercises.
Core: 100% polyurethane, with an open-celled, breathable pore structure.
Cover, for the regular Bordeaux (red) or Anthracite (grey) versions: 92% polyester, 8% elastane.
Cover for kyBounder Plus: PVC (polyvinyl chloride).
The red or grey fabric covers can be removed and washed at 40 degrees Celsius. The soft, elastic mat itself should not be washed or it will lose its optimum effectiveness.
The upper material of the kyBounder Plus can usually be cleaned simply with water and neutral soap, or with the types of hydro-alcoholic solutions (denatured alcohol and water) available in supermarkets, with the usual degreasing agents based on alcohol, water, or neutral soaps. Never use surface cleaning agents such as toluene, DMF, acetone, ketone, turpentine, benzene, or diesel, etc. which could mar the cover surface. And, again, do not attempt to wash the elastic mat itself, or it will lose its optimum effectiveness.
The material of the kybun mat has been manufactured and optimized for its exceptional characteristics: linear, elastic and resilient behavior, high and fast springback, and slow material fatigue, even under everyday exposure. When used for 8 hours/day at normal weight (BMI 18-25) and with good care, its average durability is approximately 2 years. For every 10% above normal weight, these values decrease by about 10%, or by about 50% for every 50% above normal weight.
