Product Notes:
Artemisia annua has a well-established history of use in Asia and Africa for fighting fevers and treating malaria, with its active ingredient artemisinin having powerful anti-parasitic properties. Other types of parasitic infections or bacterial or fungal overgrowths it appears to be able to help with include Giardiasis, Candida, and Intestinal Dysbiosis (an imbalance in your gut microflora), and it may also have antiviral properties.
Artemisinin, the active ingredient in this Artemisia annua plant, is the basis of the Nobel prize winning drug of that name and other artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) which are not only used to treat uncomplicated malaria caused by the Plasmodium falciparum parasite, in particular, but also for a different type of parasitic infection called schistosomiasis (or "snail fever"). And reportedly, people with AIDS have used Sweet Annie to prevent or slow down pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP), a type of lung infection caused by a fungus.
In addition, Sweet Annie has also been widely used and is being scientifically investigated for its ability to help with autoimmune disorders such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
