For particle abatement, the I600 comes equipped with a True HEPA filter (achieving 99.7% efficiency at 0.3 microns) that's enclosed by metal caps for a better seal. This is a large filter, with three-inch long blades, providing plenty of surface area (over 100 sq.ft.) to trap a lot and last a long time -- typically three to five years.
If there are generally also a fair bit of odours or airborne chemicals or gases building up in your location, an optional HI-C carbon weave filter is recommended. Sometimes called "paratrooper carbon," this material is a cut above typical consumer fare: it has been used to protect soldiers from poisonous gases and chemical warfare.
Airpura's machines are of course round, which they use to your advantage, to provide full 360 degree air distribution, enabling these units to purify areas up to 2000 square feet with two full air exchanges an hour (based on 8-foot ceilings).
In addition to the carbon filter, there is another important optional upgrade available for this model: a UV light - a twenty-watt Ultra-Violet Germicidal lamp for sterilizing antigens (bacteria and viruses) and pathogens.
