As nutritional support, Pure Encapsulations Vitamin B12 Liquid is a great way to help improve brain function, memory, and emotional stability, among other things. These hypo-allergenic formulations use Methylcobalamin, the active and highly bioavailable form of this important vitamin in a coenzyme form our bodies may be able to use better and keep in the system longer than other types, and which might also help support neurological and immune health, to boot. It is available here in two strengths: 1,000 or 5,000 mcg per ml.

Product Notes:

A great support for neurological function, Vitamin B12 can also help increase energy and boost overall immune system health.

Vitamin B-12 helps maintain and produce red blood cells, and can help prevent the related condition known as megaloblastic anemia which can make people tired and weak.

It's also needed to be able to metabolize carbohydrates, fats and protein normally (partly by serving as a cofactor for certain enzymes to convert some types of fatty acids and BCAAs (branched chain amino acids) into a citric acid), and to help synthesize DNA, methionine, and normal myelin in the nervous system.

In addition, B12, along with two other B vitamins, B6 and folic acid, is also needed to maintain normal plasma homocysteine levels to help prevent strokes. It's even been shown to help with canker sores or mouth ulcers (formally known as Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis), and some types of pain and/or disability (specifically, low back pain and neuralgia).

Last but not least, some studies indicate supplementing with Vitamin B-12 may be able to delay the onset of depression and improve the efficacy of anti-depressants when used in conjunction with them.

There are several groups of people who could very likely benefit from vitamin B-12 supplementation, including those over 50 years old (when we begin to have less stomach acid and enzymatic activity to break down the vitamins in our food); those with certain intestinal conditions which impair their absorption of nutrients (such as Celiac or Crohn's disease); vegetarians or vegans (who tend to take in too little of this vitamin, unless they consume a lot of fermented products); and those who use acid blockers or the anti-diabetic drugs metformin or Ozempic, which also reduce its absorption. Signs of a deficiency may include anemia, fatigue, impaired cognition, mood changes, 'pins and needles' feelings, or an inflamed or painful tongue (glossitis).
