Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is a group of compounds collectively known as cobalamins, which are involved in red blood cell production, DNA synthesis, and homocysteine metabolism, and have a role in the nervous and immune systems. Vegetarians or vegans may have a deficiency, and those on medication or with low stomach acid may not be absorbing it well. Vitamin B12 supplements are available in several forms: the active coenzyme form (methylcobalamin), and the stable hydroxocobalamin and cyanocobalamin forms; these can be found in lozenges and liquids.
